Since 1972…

We-

Centro de Niños was founded in 1972 by Comisión Femenil Mexicana Nacional, a national organization established to promote Latinas in leadership roles and improve the lives of their families.

Centro de Niños was established with the core belief that underrepresented preschoolers, and infants, from the homes of the working poor, or financially struggling students, deserve high quality child care and child development services. Centro's core population comes from predominately Spanish speaking homes.

Without changing its mission, in 1977, Centro became an independent not for profit corporation that continued innovation in fulfilling its mission. Centro developed award winning programs by academically preparing young children and also teaching families essential skills to take advantage of services provided by the government.

Centro was presented with a Certificate of Recognition in October 2020, as the 2020 California Non-Profit of The Year.

"On behalf of the 51st Assembly District, I am proud to join in celebrating Centro de Niño's as non-profit of the year. Thank you for your exemplary commitment to our community for providing quality education/childcare services to our families. Best wishes for continued success.”
