ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE

Each family must complete the Eligibility Intake Form as the first step in the admissions process. As a state-funded child care facility, eligibility is determined based on a family’s income and demonstrated need for child care services. All information provided will be used to verify that the family meets the criteria established by our funding agency.

Once eligibility has been confirmed, a personal interview with the parent, guardian, and/or child will be scheduled to determine if the program is the best fit for the family. Families found eligible will also be required to submit specific documents for the family file. Much of this information is required by the program’s funding source.

All children accepted into the program must have a current physical examination and an up-to-date immunization record prior to enrollment. Exceptions may be granted if these requirements conflict with the family’s religious beliefs. In such cases, the parent or guardian must provide a written statement clearly stating the religious objection.

As part of the admissions process, families will participate in:

  1. A tour of Centro de Niños, including an opportunity for the parent or guardian to observe the classroom their child will be placed in.

  2. An orientation session introducing families to the program’s philosophy, goals, eligibility criteria, enrollment priorities, due process procedures, and daily activities. The Parent Handbook will be reviewed in detail during this session, and each family will receive a copy for further review at home.

Families whose child is accepted into the program will be required to sign a contract with Centro de Niños, Inc., outlining their obligations and the program’s rules and expectations. This contract will be reviewed individually with each parent or guardian.

Parents or guardians are required to inform Centro de Niños immediately of any changes in address, phone numbers (including cell), email address, employment, training status, marital status, family size, emergency contacts, or any other information that may impact eligibility for child care services.

Finally, parents must acknowledge receipt of their Parent Rights and their child’s Personal Rights. Forms for this purpose are included in the enrollment packet. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to read all materials provided at the time of enrollment. Centro de Niños staff are available to clarify any information or answer any questions families may have.
